“Tornado Strikes Kemptville, Ontario: EF0 Twister Causes Damage”

Researchers studying tornadoes have verified that a twister touched down in the vicinity of Kemptville, Ontario, on the previous Sunday. The tornado materialized during a passing storm, causing damage to vegetation and agricultural lands, as reported by the Northern Tornadoes Project (NTP) at Western University. An assessment revealed tree destruction that suggested the tornado achieved peak wind speeds of 115 km/h along a brief, narrow trajectory. The researchers approximated that the tornado originated at 3:45 p.m. and moved 1.18 kilometers to the northeast. This incident was classified as an EF0 on the Enhanced Fujita Scale, the least severe category for categorizing tornadoes and downbursts, with ratings ranging from EF0 to EF5. Fortunately, no injuries were documented, according to the NTP. Environment Canada had issued a yellow-level alert for heavy rainfall in eastern Ontario and western Quebec that weekend, cautioning the public that precipitation levels could reach between 50 and 100 millimeters.
