Another snowstorm is expected to hit parts of Newfoundland over Easter weekend, as meteorologist Melissa Field warned that this weather event is not a prank. Special weather advisories cover areas of the Avalon Peninsula and southern Newfoundland, with anticipated snowfall ranging from 10 to 20 centimeters, potentially higher in inland and elevated regions.
The snowfall is predicted to commence late Friday and persist into Saturday. Environment Canada cautions that reduced visibility due to snowfall may impact travel plans and advises allowing extra time for journeying to destinations. Field noted that while visibility may be compromised in exposed areas due to heavy snow and gusty winds, widespread strong winds are not anticipated.
Additionally, meteorologists are monitoring another system expected to affect much of the island on Sunday night and into Monday. This system could bring snow transitioning to ice pellets, freezing rain, and eventually rain across parts of southern Newfoundland and the Avalon region.
