Normally housed at the FIFA Museum in Zurich, the trophy will travel to other Canadian cities such as Calgary, Winnipeg, Montreal, Halifax, Ottawa, and Toronto before May 26.

Soccer enthusiasts have the opportunity to see the 6.175-kilogram trophy up close before the World Cup commences in Mexico City and Guadalajara. Vancouver is one of the 16 cities in Canada, the United States, and Mexico selected to host a total of 104 games during the extended 48-team tournament from June 11 to July 19.

British Columbia has a history of hosting major international events, including the Commonwealth Games and the 2010 Olympics, as highlighted by Premier David Eby during the trophy unveiling. Vancouver is scheduled to host seven matches during the tournament, attracting global attention.

According to Vancouver mayor Ken Sim, the World Cup serves as a significant branding opportunity for the city. Canada is gearing up for its third World Cup appearance, with games against Bosnia and Herzegovina, Qatar, and Switzerland, showcasing not only the country’s passion for soccer but also its talent on the world stage.

FIFA vice president Victor Montagliani emphasized the importance of embracing and preserving the sport for future generations, urging Canadians to take pride in hosting the prestigious event. With a total of 48 countries participating in 104 games, the tournament promises to be a thrilling spectacle, generating excitement and anticipation among fans worldwide.
