CF Montreal has announced the dismissal of head coach Marco Donadel, who served in the role for a brief six-month period, as per a statement released on the club’s official website on Sunday morning. Philippe Eullaffroy has been appointed as the interim head coach until a permanent replacement is found, with assistant coaches Jacopo Falanga and Lorenzo Pinzauti also departing from the organization.
The decision to relieve Donadel of his duties follows a challenging start to the season for the team, culminating in a defeat in their recent home game against the Philadelphia Union, currently occupying the last position in the league standings. CF Montreal has managed to secure only one victory in their initial seven matches, leaving them second to last in the standings.
Donadel was appointed as the permanent head coach in October 2025, having initially assumed the role on an interim basis in March of the same year. He took over from Laurent Courtois, who was dismissed following a poor start to the season, during which CF Montreal scored only two goals and conceded nine.
In June 2025, the club issued an open letter to fans, acknowledging the team’s subpar performances and pledging a new era characterized by ambition and pride. Hailing from Conegliano, Italy, Donadel joined CF Montreal as an assistant coach on December 29, 2024, having previously played for the team as a midfielder from 2015 to 2018.
