The Toronto Tempo have announced the development of their very own practice facility. The unveiling took place at the Coca-Cola Coliseum, the team’s home arena, in the presence of majority owner Larry Tanenbaum, Tempo president Teresa Resch, Mayor Olivia Chow, and Deputy Mayor Ausma Malik.
Scheduled for completion by the 2028 season, the facility will be constructed on an underutilized parking lot at Exhibition Place. It will feature two WNBA regulation courts, sports medicine and performance areas, player lounges, locker rooms, and recovery zones.
Moreover, the facility will be open to the community during the off-season and when the Tempo are away for a maximum of 2,200 hours annually. The entire funding for this project will be provided by the Tempo, who will lease the property from the city.
The Tempo, alongside the Portland Fire, are the two expansion teams joining the WNBA this year. Toronto’s debut game is scheduled for May 8 against the Washington Mystics.
