Israeli airstrikes resulted in the deaths of at least 11 Palestinians, including two children, in various incidents in different parts of the Gaza Strip on Tuesday, as reported by local health officials. One strike targeted a police vehicle in Gaza City, claiming the lives of four individuals, including a three-year-old boy named Yahya Al‑Malahi. The Interior Ministry of the territory disclosed that a police officer was among the casualties, while nine bystanders sustained injuries, some severe.
In another incident near Jabalia in the north of Gaza, a 14-year-old child named Ahmed Halawa was killed by Israeli gunfire, confirmed by health authorities and the victim’s family. Israel’s military did not provide immediate comments on either of these occurrences.
At Al Shifa, Gaza’s largest hospital, grieving relatives gathered to bid farewell to the deceased. One father, Mukhlis Al-Malahi, recounted how they were leaving a relative’s wedding when the Israeli airstrike hit the police vehicle, resulting in the tragic loss of his young son. The father, visibly distraught and stained with his child’s blood, questioned the innocence of his son, lamenting the untimely demise that robbed him of his cousin’s wedding celebration.
Later the same day, an Israeli airstrike targeted a location near a cafe in the Beach camp in western Gaza City, claiming the lives of at least five individuals and injuring several others, according to health officials. The Israeli military spokesperson clarified that the strike was aimed at a Hamas militant.
In a separate incident in northern Gaza, Israel’s military reported the killing of an armed militant who approached the armistice line with Hamas. Health authorities confirmed the fatality without divulging further details.
The ceasefire agreement that commenced in October marked a pause in the intense conflict, leaving Israeli forces in control of a significant portion of Gaza while Hamas retained power in the remaining coastal strip. Israel’s recent intensified attacks on Hamas-affiliated police and security forces have raised concerns of destabilization, with Hamas officials in Gaza accusing Israel of instigating chaos. Israel, on the other hand, asserts that its actions are aimed at preventing attacks by Hamas and other militant groups.
Since the ceasefire agreement came into effect, over 750 Palestinians have lost their lives, as reported by Gaza’s Health Ministry, while Israeli authorities confirm the deaths of four soldiers at the hands of militants. Palestinians contend that Israeli forces are expanding their occupied territories, a claim refuted by Israel.
