“Mystery Containers of Big Mac Sauce Wash Up on Bay of Fundy”

Empty containers labeled with Big Mac Sauce and McChicken Sauce have been appearing on the shores of the Bay of Fundy recently, causing concern among local residents. Karen Jenner, a dedicated beach cleaner, has been collecting trash for eight years and noticed these bags around two years ago. Dozens of these bags have been found along the coast between Harbourville and Halls Harbour, Nova Scotia.

Jenner suspects that these bags are used to refill condiment dispensers at McDonald’s restaurants for burgers and chicken sandwiches. She has confirmed the origin of these bags with a local McDonald’s establishment. Jenner has discovered a total of 46 of these containers so far, indicating a potential issue with waste disposal practices at McDonald’s locations.

The bags found by Jenner have both French and English labeling, leading her to believe they may be originating from New Brunswick or Nova Scotia rather than being transported from the United States by ocean currents. Despite reaching out to McDonald’s about the issue over the past two years, Jenner received little response until recently when the company acknowledged the oversight and promised to investigate the matter further.

McDonald’s Canada has issued a statement expressing their commitment to addressing the situation seriously. Jenner remains hopeful that the source of these discarded containers will be identified and resolved to prevent further pollution of the Bay of Fundy shoreline.
