A 33-year-old man sought by the RCMP in connection with a violent assault and abduction of a woman in northern Manitoba has been apprehended. Darren Lachose was wanted following the incident that occurred in Chemawawin Cree Nation over the weekend, about 400 kilometers north of Winnipeg. The victim managed to escape and contact the authorities on Sunday morning, prompting an investigation by the RCMP. The woman sustained multiple non-life-threatening injuries after being physically attacked and confined for several hours by a man known to her who used various weapons. Lachose faced charges including aggravated sexual assault, aggravated assault, forcible confinement, uttering threats, mischief, and breaching previous release conditions. The RCMP had urged the public to report any sightings of Lachose, leading to his arrest at a residence in Chemawawin as confirmed in an update provided by the police.
