Tom Holland, aged 30, faced a formidable opponent on a recent episode of the popular YouTube series Hot Ones – extremely spicy chicken wings. Joining him was his co-star from The Odyssey and the upcoming film Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Jon Bernthal, aged 49. The duo braved the show’s challenge of answering questions while consuming progressively hotter wings.
Despite successfully navigating through all 10 rounds, Holland encountered a unique challenge after finishing the last wing. He became the first guest in the show’s 11-year history to vomit during an episode, albeit discreetly off-camera.
As they were filming the outro, Holland experienced a sudden bout of coughing followed by a brief moment of throwing up under the table. Bernthal, in high spirits, cheered on, capturing the moment with enthusiasm. Holland, showing good humor, joked about not getting any on his clothes and even requested to see the playback.
The turning point came just before the notorious “last dab” segment, where guests coat their final wing in the spiciest sauce. Holland and Bernthal attempted to devour the entire wing, leading to immediate regret and physical discomfort.
The two actors share a long history, having previously worked together on the 2017 movie Pilgrimage and now dominating the box office with recent blockbuster hits. On Hot Ones, amidst tears induced by the spicy wings, Holland emotionally praised Bernthal for his mentorship and friendship throughout their careers.
Their collaboration extends to the success of The Odyssey, directed by Christopher Nolan, which grossed over $260 million globally in its opening weekend, marking Nolan’s highest-grossing worldwide debut to date. Fans can anticipate the release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day on July 31.
