“Father Shares Heartwarming Update on Tumbler Ridge Shooting Survivor”

The father of Maya Gebala, a victim of the Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia mass shooting, shared an update that his daughter has been moved from intensive care to a unit focusing on recovery and rehabilitation. David Gebala mentioned in a social media post that his 12-year-old daughter appears to be experiencing less pain now, showing more energy, and regaining color in her complexion.

Reflecting on Maya’s time in the intensive care unit, Gebala described it as a mix of emotional highs and lows but noted that she is slowly progressing. He expressed immense gratitude and relief as Maya was able to sit up with the assistance of hospital therapists, allowing him to embrace her for the first time.

Gebala conveyed the overwhelming feeling of hugging his daughter, expressing a desire to lift her up, hold her tightly, and never let go. Maya continues to receive treatment at B.C. Children’s Hospital in Vancouver for various injuries, including a gunshot wound to the head sustained during the February mass shooting.
