Manitoba Hit-and-Run: DUI Driver Arrested

A male driver faces charges of driving under the influence following a hit-and-run incident in western Manitoba that left another man critically injured early Monday. The Dauphin RCMP responded to a call reporting a pedestrian being hit by a vehicle in the vicinity of Pine River, approximately 230 kilometers north of Brandon, at around 2:25 a.m. that day. According to a news release issued by the RCMP on Wednesday, the 36-year-old pedestrian was struck on Second Avenue and was rushed to a Winnipeg hospital in critical condition, where he remains as of the latest update. The driver fled the scene post-accident. Subsequently, a 46-year-old resident of Pine River was apprehended a few hours later and has been charged with failing to stop after causing an accident resulting in bodily harm, operating a motor vehicle under the influence leading to bodily harm, and failing to comply with an alcohol sobriety test. The accused individual is currently in custody.
