“Nvidia Unveils RTX Spark Superchip for AI-Powered PCs”

Nvidia has introduced a powerful chip to enable advanced artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities on laptops and desktops, with new computer models from Microsoft and Dell expected to launch later this year. The company, headquartered in Santa Clara, California, has been successful in providing high-end chips for data centers to meet the increasing demand for AI. Nvidia is now expanding its presence in AI systems and products.

During the annual Nvidia GTC event in Taipei, Jensen Huang, Nvidia’s CEO and founder, announced the new chip. He emphasized that Nvidia and Microsoft are set to revolutionize the personal computer (PC) landscape. The RTX Spark superchip, unveiled by Huang, integrates both central processing unit (CPU) and graphics processing unit (GPU) functionalities to power upcoming Windows laptops and desktops, creating what Nvidia calls “AI personal computers” expected to debut this autumn.

Nvidia, currently the world’s most valuable company, is focusing on reinventing the PC for gaming and content creation. Huang highlighted the potential of AI agents in PCs, enabling users to interact with their devices in more intuitive ways. Microsoft added that PCs equipped with Nvidia’s RTX superchips will support advanced AI models and intricate workloads, allowing for local AI agent operations.

Lian Jye Su, chief analyst at Omdia, noted the growing demand for personal AI agents, stating that Nvidia’s move provides consumers with more options, which is beneficial. Analyst Neil Shah from Counterpoint Research described Nvidia’s announcement as a game-changer that will reshape the future of PCs over the next decade. The goal is to bring AI applications powered by agentic AI to every household, aiming to establish an “AI supercomputer” in each home.

In addition to the chip launch, Huang revealed that Nvidia’s new Vera CPUs for data centers are now in full production and are expected to drive significant growth in the AI agent market. Early customers for these CPUs are anticipated to include Anthropic, OpenAI, and SpaceXAI. Huang also introduced a humanoid robot reference design for potential research applications, particularly in the higher education sector.
