“Félix Auger-Aliassime Advances in Monte-Carlo Masters”

Canadian tennis sensation Félix Auger-Aliassime kicked off his clay-court campaign on Wednesday with a solid 7-6 (4), 6-3 victory over Marin Cilic of Croatia in the second round of the Monte-Carlo Masters. Auger-Aliassime, seeded sixth in the tournament, seized control in the second set by securing a crucial break to surge ahead 3-1 following a double fault by Cilic on break point. Displaying his prowess, Auger-Aliassime saved a break point with an ace and then consolidated his lead at 5-2. The match culminated in his favor as Cilic’s long shot marked the conclusion of a brief exchange on match point. The 25-year-old Canadian, hailing from Montreal, who received a first-round bye, extended his season record to 16-6. Notably, he clinched his ninth career title in February at Montpelier, France. In his upcoming match on Thursday, Auger-Aliassime is set to take on the ninth-seeded Casper Ruud from Norway. Auger-Aliassime holds a 4-3 head-to-head advantage over Ruud, having triumphed in their previous three encounters, all occurring in 2024, notably on clay at the Madrid Masters and Paris Olympics.
