Fuel prices in Newfoundland and Labrador saw an increase over the weekend due to ongoing volatility in oil markets. The Public Utilities Board made its fifth consecutive adjustment to fuel prices, with diesel prices going up by 10.5 cents per litre in most areas of the province. In Labrador West and Churchill Falls, the increase was slightly lower at 9.7 cents per litre. This brings diesel prices to a range of $2.45 to $2.58 per litre in Newfoundland and $1.75 to $2.58 per litre in Labrador.
The price of diesel on the Avalon Peninsula, at $2.45 per litre, was 11.8 cents cheaper than earlier in the week. Furnace oil also saw an increase of over nine cents per litre, resulting in prices between $1.93 and $2.13 per litre in different locations in Newfoundland.
Meanwhile, stove oil prices in Labrador West and Churchill Falls went up by over 8.4 cents per litre, setting maximum prices between $1.28 and $2.02 per litre across Labrador. Gasoline and propane prices remained unaffected by the latest price adjustment.
