“Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games Medal Unveiled: A Design First”

The prize medal for the upcoming Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games was unveiled on Wednesday, showcasing a unique design inspired by the city’s landmarks and coat of arms. This medal, a first in the history of the Games, incorporates braille and tactile elements to promote inclusivity as a tangible experience. Renowned artist Militsa Milenkova designed the medal, which takes the shape of a Reuleaux triangle, setting it apart from previous Commonwealth Games medals.

The medal design is a fusion of Glasgow’s cultural heritage and industrial landscape, reflecting the city’s identity in intricate detail. During the Games scheduled from July 23 to August 2, a total of 215 gold medals will be presented across 10 sports and six Para sports. Notably, Glasgow will host 47 gold medal events in Para sports, marking the largest Para sport program in Commonwealth Games history.
