Actor and lead singer of Thirty Seconds to Mars, Jared Leto, is facing accusations of criminal sexual behavior as revealed by four women in a recent documentary released by the BBC on Wednesday. The women claimed the incidents occurred when they were teenagers.
The documentary by the BBC, titled Jared Leto: Hollywood’s Dark Secret, features interviews with 10 women who recounted their alleged encounters between 2002 and 2016, during Leto’s 30s and early 40s.
According to the BBC, four of the women detailed what they perceived as criminal actions involving Leto. The documentary also includes validation of some of the accounts from friends and family who were informed about the incidents at the time.
Leto has refuted the allegations.
Leto, known for winning the 2014 Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in Dallas Buyers Club, has starred in popular films like Fight Club, Blade Runner 2049, and Suicide Squad. Additionally, his band is set to embark on a European tour in April 2027.
This is not the first time Leto has been accused of sexual misconduct. An investigation by Air Mail in June 2025 included testimonies from nine women outlining a pattern of predatory behavior, unwelcome advances, and indecent exposure between 2006 and 2012. Los Angeles DJ Allie Teilz publicly claimed on social media that Leto assaulted her when she was 17.
Referencing these prior allegations, the BBC’s documentary acknowledges more than 120 separate online accusations regarding Leto’s behavior towards women, which a representative for Leto previously denied.
Leto’s Denial of BBC Allegations
The BBC reported that it had access to pictures and messages in some instances. Despite multiple attempts to reach Leto for comment, the U.K. public broadcaster noted that he did not respond to the allegations presented to him.
CBC News also tried to contact Leto’s representatives for a statement but had not received one at the time of reporting.
However, various outlets, including The Hollywood Reporter, disclosed that Leto’s representatives issued a statement denying the allegations.
In the statement reportedly provided, Leto, aged 54, stated, “I have never sexually assaulted anyone in my entire life,” while labeling the claims in the documentary as “absolutely and categorically false.”
Sexual Misconduct Allegations in the BBC Documentary
None of the four women have been identified by their real names.
Isabel recounted her experience to the BBC, stating she was 17 when she encountered Leto, then 30, in Las Vegas in 2002. She alleged that he sexually assaulted her after inviting her to his hotel room, leading her to blame herself for years following the incident.
Former model Alex claimed she was 19 when Leto allegedly threatened her with sexual assault in 2013. She disclosed to the BBC that Leto’s assistant invited her to an after-party in London, only to find Leto alone in the hotel room. After making inappropriate remarks, she left feeling unsafe.
Clara asserted that she was 17 when she met Leto, who was 34 at the time. She mentioned discussing the age of consent in California, which is 18, with Leto, who reportedly dismissed her concerns. She alleged that she and Leto engaged in sexual activity, marking the first of several visits to his residence.
Etta claimed she met Leto at a modeling agency in Los Angeles in 2014 when she was 16. She informed the BBC that their communication quickly turned sexual after he requested her email. Etta also revealed that she was sent a non-disclosure agreement in 2016, which she declined to sign.
