The popular CBC comedy is set to return for its fifth and last season on Sept. 8, taking viewers on one last journey to Newfoundland. Based on Critch’s bestselling memoir, the show has garnered eight CSA nominations and follows his experiences growing up in ’80s St. John’s.
Despite the show being rooted in his past memories, Critch, who portrays his own father, expressed gratitude for the new memories made with the cast and crew. In the upcoming season, viewers will witness Mark’s final year of high school coinciding with Newfoundland’s cod moratorium, leading to a turbulent period as he navigates first love, evolving friendships, and family challenges while pursuing his acting aspirations.
Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, known for his role as young Critch, reflected on the fulfilling journey of playing the character for almost a third of his life. Ainsworth, who also appeared in HBO’s “House of the Dragon,” shared his excitement for future projects, including portraying Link in the live-action “The Legend of Zelda” movie.
