Tiger Woods Arrested for DUI and Drug Possession

After a car accident in Florida, Tiger Woods was caught on body camera telling a deputy, “I was just talking to the president.” The footage revealed Woods expressing gratitude before the deputy approached, although it was unclear if he meant President Donald Trump. Following his arrest for DUI, Woods appeared shocked as he was handcuffed and displayed signs of impairment during a sobriety test and even in the patrol car.

Woods explained to authorities that he was distracted by his phone and adjusting the radio before his SUV collided with a truck and overturned. Despite the incident, no injuries were reported. Woods’ arrest included the discovery of hydrocodone pills in his possession, a painkiller containing acetaminophen and an opioid.

During the arrest process, Woods denied consuming alcohol but acknowledged taking medication earlier that day. Subsequently, he pleaded not guilty to the DUI charge and announced he would be seeking treatment for his health. Woods underwent a Breathalyzer test that showed no alcohol, but he refused a urine test, leading to additional legal implications under Florida law.

Deputies noted Woods’ physical limitations due to multiple surgeries during the field sobriety test. Despite his hiccupping and movement during the tests, the arresting officer concluded that Woods’ faculties were impaired, rendering him unfit to operate a vehicle safely.

As a prominent figure in golf, Woods’ career has been marred by injuries, including a serious car crash in 2021 that almost led to leg amputation. His absence from competitive play has been prolonged, with his last official event being the 2024 British Open. Despite setbacks, Woods remains a five-time Masters champion, with a legacy that has left an indelible mark on the sport.
