“Windsor Police Warn of Hazardous Driving Conditions”

Police in Windsor issued a warning about hazardous driving conditions following a series of accidents due to slippery roads. According to a recent statement from the Windsor Police Service, officers were called to numerous collisions on the E.C. Row Expressway, spanning from Huron Church Road to Central Avenue, between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m. on Saturday. Additionally, there were several weather-related accidents reported near Provincial and Walker roads.

The statement highlighted the treacherous road conditions, describing them as “extremely icy,” causing challenges for drivers and emergency vehicles alike. During the incidents, a police vehicle responding to one collision was rear-ended on E.C. Row near Walker Road, resulting in minor injuries to one individual. Fortunately, all parties involved in the accidents remained at the scene.

Authorities emphasized the importance of reducing speed while driving, cautioning about the rapid formation of “black ice,” which is hard to detect visually and poses significant risks on the roads.
