“Montreal Jazz Festival Concert Sees 6 Hospitalized”

During a free concert at the Montreal Jazz Festival on Saturday night, six individuals were hospitalized, but both organizers and Urgences-santé confirmed that the event proceeded as planned. A large crowd of festival attendees gathered to witness Quebec’s renowned masked band, Angine de Poitrine.

Emergency medical teams from Urgences-santé attended to 10 individuals with various medical concerns, including falls and intoxication. Of these cases, six were taken to the hospital, while four declined transportation. According to spokesperson Benjamin Dansereau, some of those hospitalized were in stable but worrisome conditions. However, Dansereau noted that these figures were within the usual range for summer events and that preparations had been made accordingly.

Dansereau praised the swift response and effective work of the emergency crews, emphasizing the importance of hydration and awareness in crowded settings. Meanwhile, festival attendee Robert Mark compared the event’s turnout to Stevie Wonder’s 2009 performance, expressing concern over the overwhelming crowd dynamics near the stage.

Despite challenges, festival director Maurin Auxéméry commended his team for managing the situation effectively, noting the increased security measures taken. The concert proceeded as anticipated, with access to the venue closed prior to the show. Auxéméry highlighted the success of hosting a local band that drew a crowd reminiscent of Stevie Wonder’s historic performance, marking a significant achievement for the festival.
